Sheet 01 · Overview

Headless when the leverage is real.

Headless Shopify is not always the right answer. It adds infrastructure, deployment, and ongoing operational complexity that a well-built Liquid theme can sometimes avoid.

But when the storefront needs design freedom Liquid cannot give, performance Liquid cannot reach, or publishing across multiple surfaces (web, native, kiosk, in-store) — headless wins. We build headless storefronts that earn their complexity by shipping measurably better experiences.

Hydrogen on Oxygen for tight Shopify alignment. Custom Remix or Nuxt when the surrounding stack demands it. Checkout stays on Shopify — extended via Functions and Checkout UI Extensions, not replaced.

Sheet 03 · Process

How we go headless.

  1. Phase 01

    Decision

Audit current Liquid theme, performance budget, and design ambitions. Confirm headless is the right move — or recommend an Online Store 2.0 rebuild instead.

  2. Phase 02

    Architecture

Pick the framework, hosting, caching, and CMS strategy. Map Storefront API queries, customer flows, and admin app dependencies.

  3. Phase 03

    Build

Storefront built in milestones. Each page rendered, indexed, and benchmarked against the prior theme before replacement.

  4. Phase 04

    Cutover & operate

DNS flipped behind 301 redirects. Performance and SEO monitored for 60 days. Retained development for ongoing feature work.

Sheet 05 · FAQ

Questions, answered.

When should we go headless on Shopify?

When the storefront needs more design or performance flexibility than Liquid allows, when you are publishing across multiple surfaces (web, native, in-store), or when SEO and Core Web Vitals are commercial-grade priorities. Headless adds complexity — make sure the leverage is real.

Hydrogen, Remix, or Nuxt?

Hydrogen (built on Remix) for tight Shopify alignment and Oxygen hosting. Custom Remix for more flexibility. Nuxt when the surrounding stack is Vue. We pick per engagement, not per fashion.

What about checkout?

Checkout stays on Shopify — that is non-negotiable for PCI compliance and the Shop Pay ecosystem. We can customize it via Functions and Checkout UI Extensions, but the checkout host is Shopify.

Will SEO still work?

Yes — headless storefronts ship with SSR or static rendering, structured data, canonicals, sitemaps, and Core Web Vitals scores that consistently outperform Liquid themes.

Can we keep our existing apps?

Most admin-side apps (Klaviyo, ERP integrations, fulfillment) keep working. Storefront-side apps (theme app extensions, embedded UI widgets) often need replacement components in the headless storefront.
